STRIKE OUT CANCER
Cancer in children is a growing problem in Vietnam. The incidence of cancer in Vietnamese children increased from 10,955 cases per year in 2010 to 14,740 per year in 2017, an annual 35% increase. The three leading types of cancer among children are Leukemia, soft tissue cancer, and lymphoma. The cost of cancer treatment estimated at 220,000,000 VND is also a major problem for Vietnamese families. The national medical insurance scheme does not cover the cost of all necessary medications and treatment, and many families are unable to afford the high cost of care. As a result, many children with cancer are not able to receive the treatment they need and often do not survive such a diagnosis.
Over the last 26 years, The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and its partners have been the leading organizer for cancer runs in Vietnam with over 25,000,000,000 VND raised with the support of over 221 thousand participants. We invite everyone to continue our dream of saving every child in Vietnam from cancer by joining the CHILDREN’S CANCER RUN.
Bringing together the international community of Vietnam and supported by many businesses and chambers of commerce, we are ready to make a difference in the lives of children throughout all of Vietnam.
